Appointed by the Governor’s Wilson & Davis to serve on California’s adult parole board. Conduct parole consideration hearings for life inmates in various state prisons. As a member of the executive Board, give recommendations to the Governor on reprieves, pardons and commutation of sentencing, including death penalty commutations. Set policy and adopt regulations concerning the governing of the adult parole system including parole release and conditions, parole revocation, mentally disordered offenders and sexually violent predators.

Secured state funding for higher education, protection of natural resources and disability support payments. Appointed to California Coastal Conservancy and California Film Commission. Appointed to the Interagency Coordinating Council, Department of Developmental Services. Served as Assistant Minority Leader.
