Meet Tom
It is an honor to serve as the San Luis Obispo County Assessor. My job is to identify all property in the county, determine its tax-ability, and place a value on it. Since becoming Assessor, I have worked to create a more tax payer friendly office, leveraged technology to do more for less, and cut the number of assessment appeals in half. I have bachelor's degree in Ag. Management from Cal Poly and a Masters in Ag. Economics from UC Davis. Prior to becoming the Assessor, I as a member of the California State Assembly, a Commissioner for the Board of Prisons Terms, a Realtor, and managed my family's construction business. I have been a county resident for over 40 years. My wife, Martha, and I have four children and two grandchildren. We live on the family farm in Paso Robles where the family raises wine grapes and hay.
